Sometimes people need to have a cheerleader. Sometimes they need the truth. Sometimes those two things are at odds with each other. Be the kind of friend who can be counted on for the truth. There will always be lots of cheerleaders.

One Joyous Heart 
So true. I wasn’t a cheerleader for my friend today. I was a shoulder for her to lean on. We’ve shared the truth and now she needs support. We’ve been friends for almost 30 years.
Even though truth telling isn’t always what someone wants to hear, maybe it really is the BEST kind of cheerleading. Because what does a cheerleader do except offer support. You’ve made me think about this in a new way.
Amen. You really do need a friend that will tell you that yes, indeed, your ass does look fat in those jeans but then compliment you on your awesome rack. 🙂
